Annual volume of oil pollution and oily wastes in the world is estimated as much as hundreds million cubic meters.
As a rule, oily wastes that enter the water and soil come from following sources: oil exploitation and transportation, petroleum production at oil refinery plants and cleaning operations of oil tanks.
Accumulated oil pollution of the recent decades resulted from oil exploitation, production and transportation is equally dangerous for environment; its volume is estimated as much as hundreds million cubic meters in volume.
Dependent on composition, there are different types of oil pollution: oily water, oil sludge (in liquid state) and oil contaminated soil.
Normally oily water contains not more than 5% of oil and solid substances. Nevertheless, even insignificant amount of oil content in the water makes it unsuitable for further use and harms the environment.
Oil sludge is a mixture of crude oil and/or petroleum products (either light or heavy) with water and solid substances (soil, sediments). Unlike oil contaminated soil, oil and/or petroleum products content in oil sludge far outweighs solids content (soil, sediments).
The soil itself (sand, clay etc.) and sediments are the main parts of oil contaminated soil. Oil and/or petroleum products content in oil contaminated soil is less significant and do not exceed 10%, on the average.
Oil contamination poses serious threat to the environment. Generally the recovery of oil sludge and oil contaminated soil is not carried out because of the lack of proper equipment and efficient technology.
Our company offers both separate plants for all above mentioned types of oil waste and complex multi-purpose solutions for oil sludge, oil contaminated soil and oily water.
The plant is capable of recovering not only liquid oil sludge from settling tanks and lagoons, but also of oily residuals remaining after oil tanks cleaning.
Our customers also benefit from our international experience in oil sludge recovery projects. Please have a look at our sludge recovery project.
The plant also includes feed hopper and conveyor for feeding the soil into water jet cleaning module.
The main objective of soil remediation is to recover maximum possible volume of oil and to prepare other components for either further use or low-cost disposal.
Water jet cleaning module provides watering, soil treatment and high pressure flushing as well as separation of clean soil and wastes (with particles grading, e.g. > 5 mm, 0.15 – 5 mm).
Flocculant preparation and dosing system in conjunction with washing water cleaning module provides washing water cleaning and primary oil phase recovery.
Three-phase decanter centrifuge performs fine treatment of extracted oil and water separation. Two-phase decanter centrifuge and/or soil drying system can be used for reducing water consumption.

Case study of soil remediation project.
Generally oily water results from crude oil exploitation and processing. Oily water treatment consists of its disintegration on oil, water and sediments.
The plant offered by our company is designed for fully automated round-the-clock operation.
Mobile and stationary versions of all plants are available. These solutions aim not only to resolve the problem of oil contamination treatment; they also allow extracting valuable petroleum products for their further refinery or sale. This leads to increased overall project efficiency.
Drilling liquid or drilling emulsion is a complex multi-component dispersed system consisting of emulgated liquid, suspended liquid and aerated liquid. It is used in boring processes, crude oil exploitation and construction works. Drilling liquid is circulating in close system at drilling site; in the meantime soil particles get into the drilling liquid and degrade it, turning liquid into the drilling mud.
Drilling mud treatment plant separates soil particles from drilling emulsion saving costly drilling liquid for further use.
Another pressing issue today is disposal of soil removed from drilling mud. The solution our company offers aims to dewater contaminated soil and to dramatically reduce volume and weight of soil to be transported for disposal.
All plants as well as their parts are fully customizable upon customer’s request.
One of the examples of such customization is a multi-purpose plant for oil sludge and drilling mud treatment with an option to disintegrate a product either on two or three phases.
This design allows using a plant for treatment of drilling fluid as well as oil sludge and other products requiring three-phase disintegration.
